The Washington Post held a taste test asking three chefs to sample nine brands of olive oil. The top finishers were L'huille d'Olive, Olio Beato (rated 10 out of 10) and Pornanino Farm. I have not tried the remaining two winners, but after tasting Olio Beato I did not feel there was a need to go on searching for a quality oil. This was it! No question about it!

This limited edition 100% organic extra virgin Italian olive oil is cultivated, pressed and packaged in Bari.

It is not easy to describe it except to say that it is light and smooth. I sampled it along with an American organic extra virgin olive oil and it had a slight cloying taste and seemed heavier. So I am hooked on Olio Beato. I would be hard to go back to any other I've used in the past as it would be a step down in quality and taste pleasure.

Olio Beato Novello is made exclusively from olives harvested in the countryside of Bitetto in the famous Valley of Bari, Italy which according to experts, are rich with 70 aromas. Its "novello" status ensures an olive oil that is rich and untamed by months in a settling tank. Inspected by Agronomists, these olives arrive at the oil mill within 24 hours of cultivation for pressing and are filtered naturally without additives of any kind. This timely and quality-controlled process conserves the taste and the healthy virtue of the Puglia soils.
Olio Beato Novello Unfiltered Olive Oil has won first prize in the "Virgin Olive Oils" category in the International Extra Virgin Olive Oils Quality Contest, in Mora (Toledo, Spain).
